I am modelling heat transfer in Abaqus.

I have a 2D model exposed to a 50kW/m2 heat flux.

I left the shell element thickness undefined, and specified the heat flux as a uniform load.

The unit for a uniform load is W/unit area, but now the element has no thickness – How should a flux load be defined for a 2D shell element with no thickness?

Will the unit then change to W/m?

Please give me guidance?

Please send us more details about your model to help you. Can you send the picture of your model with the place of applied load, setting in section in property module, and element type?
